Airaa Academy recently hosted an enriching career talk on theatre for Learners, led by the talented theatre artist Shraddha Modi.

 Introduction to Theatre

With her vast experience and vibrant personality, Shraddha introduced Learners to the world of drama, storytelling, and stage arts, offering them a deeper understanding of theatre as both a craft and a career.  Shraddha began the session by explaining the essence of theatre, an art form that brings stories to life through performance. She highlighted how theatre is a powerful medium of communication that blends emotions, expressions, movement, and voice to create meaningful experiences for audiences. For many Learners, this introduction opened a doorway into a world where imagination meets discipline and creativity transforms into art.

Theatre and Its History

To give Learners a strong foundation, Shraddha walked them through the fascinating history of Theatre, from ancient ritualistic performances to traditional Indian theatre forms, and the evolution of modern stagecraft. She explained how Theatre has always been a mirror to society, capturing human experiences, cultural stories, and social changes across centuries. This historical perspective helped Learners appreciate theatre not just as entertainment, but as a significant cultural and artistic heritage.

 Types of Theatre in India

Shraddha introduced Learners to the rich diversity of Indian theatre traditions. She spoke about classical forms like Kutiyattam, Kathakali, and Yakshagana, as well as folk Theatre styles such as Nautanki, Bhavai, and Tamasha. The Learners were fascinated to discover how each region of India has its own unique storytelling style, costumes, music, and performance techniques.

The 8 Cs of Drama

One of the most engaging parts of the session was Shraddha’s explanation of the 8 Cs of Drama –
Creativity, Confidence, Communication, Compassion, Culture, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Challenge.

She elaborated on how each of these skills is nurtured through theatre and how they contribute to personal growth and character building. Learners understood that drama is not just about acting, it is about developing life skills that empower them in every field.
